It’s been two years since last time I flew Batik Air back in June and August 2013, when the airline was just three months old. Both trip report may be read here: Batik Air ID6850 Jakarta – Pekanbaru: Pengalaman Pertama dengan Batik Air (Bahasa Indonesia) and Batik Air ID6853 Pekanbaru – Jakarta: Mudik Lebaran 2013 (Bahasa Indonesia). This flight is my third Batik Air experience, but this time in a different style, or I may say it is in a better class. Yes, I will be flying in C Class for the very first time!

26 July 2015, the Lebaran Idul Fitri holiday is about to over which means I have to return back to Jakarta. This time, I was a bit bewildered by the airline fare which was still as expensive as Lebaran fare. But, it was a good luck when I browsed to Batik Air’s website and found the C Class fare is similar to the Y class, I guess everyone will book it immediately, and so did I! Batik Air flight ID6659 Lombok (LOP) – Jakarta (CGK) C Class ticket is booked!

Flight Details:

Flight Number: ID6659

Origin: Lombok International Airport (LOP)

Destination: Jakarta, Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK)

Fleet: Boeing 737-800 (WL) PK-LBR

Date: Sunday, 26 July 2015

Takeoff: 6.53 PM (Actual)

Landing: 7.45 PM (Actual)

Seat: 1F

PIC: Captain Wiratama Yesa Putra

On the day of the flight, I left for the airport at 4 PM as the flight is scheduled to takeoff at 6.55 PM. It is considered as “so early” since my house is pretty close to the airport, but this time I intended to be earlier to experience the C Class service right away that I will finally get for the very first time.

The moment I arrived at the special C Class check-in desk, I began to feel the differences! There were three Batik Air staffs welcome me with their smile and very kind greeting, then they took over all of my check-in process. We had a chat during the check in, which one of the point is this flight is gonna be a fully occupied flight. “The 12 available business class seats are fully occupied, mas. So does the economy” one of them told me. Wow!

As the check-in was done, I was handed my boarding pass alongside the lounge invitation and asked whether I will go to the lounge now or later. If now, then one of them will escort me to the lounge. But, this time I chose to go outside the terminal first to meet my family before leaving. Also I was asked whether I want to be the first to board, and as I always do, I chose to board last.

And it was a good sight outside the terminal of Lombok International Airport that afternoon. A bright afternoon with golden light “bathing” the airport.

It was around 5 PM when I decided to leave for the lounge. At Lombok International Airport, Batik Air’s C Class passengers are invited to Sky One Lounge. I entered the lounge my self as I found it before the domestic waiting room. I was welcome by two lounge staffs who then asked for my lounge invitation for verification. Minutes later I was in and enjoy the stay!

Then what did I do? How was this low cost traveler doing for the very first time in an executive lounge? The answer is  nothing!😛 I pretended to be as normal as other C Class passengers. Sit relax, enjoy some light snacks, also sometime walking around the lounge, and for me.. as I planned to write this trip report, I snapped some pictures.

There was also a tourist couple with the same flight with me in the lounge, which then in Jakarta Airport I had chat with them and know they are from Belgium and this is also their first time flying in C Class.. haha *high five bro

It was a good sight at the apron as my airplane is already there. It is gonna be an on-time flight!

Boeing 737-800(WL) PK-LBR is already docking at stand #5 of Lombok International Airport.

Around 6 PM, the ground staff who escorts C Class pax came meet us. She told me we will board soon, but the tourist couple will board first. Minutes later, she came to the lounge again and asked me to board. “Let’s go mas”. I was escorted by her until the airplane’s door then handed to two Cabin Crews who are in-charge in C Class cabin for this flight. “Thanks a lot mbak 🙏“.

“Welcome onboard Batik Air mas, please enjoy your flight with us 🙏 🙏

“Thank you mbak, good day 🙏

As I arrived to my seat at 1F, I was given the Hot Towel, welcome snacks and welcome drinks as the pre-flight services.

And, since I was the last one to board, it was only some minutes after I sat, we were ready to push-back which means my pre-flight services must be taken back. The cabin crews took the hot towel and welcome drink which then exchanged with pillow and blanket. We are all settled for the flight! ✈

During push-back, we were showed the safety demo through PTV, then around 6.53 PM we took of! ✈

It was two minutes earlier than the scheduled takeoff time.

After the seat belt sign is off, the two Cabin Crews prepared for our dinner and distributing the noise cancelling. This time, I chose Nasi Daging (Rice with Meat) as my dinner with Kerupuk and a glass of milk.

In my personal opinion, this meal is not too much different to the Economy meal which I got on my last Batik flight. This one is just… has a better look, better tray and more quantity. I though we were going to be served an appetizer first before this main course, or else maybe my expectations were too high nah.😀

But, never mind, let’s just enjoy this “rare” dinner. I don’t know when I will be flying on C Class again to experience this. My dinner was accompanied by the famous “Just For Laughs” serial on PTV.

After the main course, it is desert time. I asked for some light snack with banana and an additional glass of milk.

For the rest of the flight, I only enjoyed the PTV. But, unfortunately the PTV content is not that much as I expected and the content is not so up-to-dated. There were still some old movies and songs which I though it is better to be updated to newer released movies and songs.

Prior to approach to Jakarta, the Co-Pilot announced the information of our current position, local weather update for Jakarta and a thankful message from the entire crew for this flight with Batik Air. After that, the seat belt sign is switched on and we are ready to approach Jakarta Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

At 7.45 PM we finally landed at Jakarta, then parked the airplane at Terminal 1A. This time I also wanted to be the last one to disembark but unfortunately the C Class escort car is already waiting near the airplane. No choice, I have to disembark right away.😦 Before disembarking, let’s say thank you to the Cabin Crews for their services during the flight. “Thank you mbak, see you onboard next flight 🙏“.

Thank you Lima Bravo Romeo! 👍

We were escorted to Terminal 1C, but this time I felt we are no longer C Class pax as the service given is almost likely to be a Y class service. To wait for our luggage, we waited at an assigned place in front of Batik Air’s counter next to the conveyor belt. There were no seats, just a red carpet to wait while the ground crews look for our luggage. I though there will be a special assigned room to wait, with seats so then we won’t wait by standing like this, as their competitor has for their C Class pax, but unfortunately no😦 . Maybe it is something Batik Air needs to improve in order to compete with the competitor.

After I got my luggage, I directly exit the terminal. My journey is still need to be continued, this time  by Taxi, and say Hello Jakarta!
Finally, my first C Class flight experience ended here. Overall, I would like to say thank you to Batik Air and all the crews for the services during this journey!

My personal reviews are as follows:

  • The ground service in Lombok was very good, it was an excellent service from the check in until the boarding, especially with the crew who escorts me during the pre-flight. She is very kind and friendly, I got the personal experience with her. Score 9/10
  • The inflight services were good with friendly crews. The minus points could be from no appetizer served (this one maybe my expectation is too high (?)😀 ), and the less collection in PTV. Score 8/10
  • The ground services in Jakarta is considered as the worst point of this journey. As mentioned above, we have to stand up to wait for the bagage, no room and seats as Batik’s competitor has. Score 7/10

Thank you and see you onboard! ✈
